Griffith came to America on the ship 'Thomas and John'
on Jan. 6, 1635 from London to Virginia. He was
listed as arriving at Springfield, Mass. in 1644. He
was a 'Freeman' at Springfield, Mass. April 5,
1649, was a prop. in 1646. He wife's name was
Sarah, no records were found as to her last name
or when, or where they were married.
'About 1643-1645, a determined effort was made to recruit the artisans and tradesmen necessary to make Springfield independent of outside sources of supply, and at that period the population practically doubled. In March 18, 1850, Griffith Jones, Miles Morgan and Miles's wife Prudence testified that they heard the wife of Thomas Miller, Sara, say: 'get thee gone Hugh Parsons, get thee gone, if thou wilt not go I will go to Mr. Pynchon and he shall have thee away.' (Witch Hunting int he Seventh Century New England - David D. Hall pg 53)
